This is a story of my journey to buying my Nintendo 2DS, exactly the one you seen on a photo here. Without any further unnecessary introduction, I invite you to read the story below!
A long long time ago... everybody has Nintendo 3DS! They play some Pokemon X/Y, Zelda remake or some other great games like the new Castlevania: Mirror of Fate.
But not me
I was broke ass guy with od Nintendo DS Lite and Pokemon HeartGold. I want the 3DS, but in Poland, it was so damn expensive, and it was just a console, not to mention games, that were overpriced so high, that you can buy 3 PC games, instead of 1 for 3DS.
So I wanted it but never bought it.
But then! The Nintendo 2DS has been announced!
Oh boy, what a joy, a day to celebrate!
Everybody was complaining, what a terrible design it was. DS and 3DS were much alike, but 2DS was more like od GameBoy.
But it doesn't matter for me!
The 2DS was capable of running 3DS games, there were no 3D image (you know, 3D like in Cinema, but without those ugly glasses, main reason to buy Nintendo 3DS), and 2DS has only one mono speaker, but it was cheaper, a lot cheaper, I didn't remember exact prices in Poland, but it was like half of the regular 3DS price.
I didn't run to buy the console right away
I read about it on forums and watched reviews on youtube, and then I found about upcoming 2DS Pokemon Edition. A special bundle including 2DS console in the transparent body, with one of first Pokemon game (from GameBoy era), and a bunch of stickers and a charger! (yeah, charger, because regularly Nintendo didn't include a charger in Nintendo 3DS, which was also pretty expensive in Poland, some about 16-20 USD). And the best part of this, that the Nintendo 2DS Pokemon Edition was available in Poland!
At first, I wanted the blue one
After that the red! But in the end, I go and bought the yellow version. With Pokemon Yellow (the best version IMO, the only first gen game where you can get all the starters from NPC!).
I get back home, connect my new shiny 2DS to the Internet, and the first thing I did, was downloading the Castlevania Mirror of Fate (Demo)! After that, I started playing the Pokemon Yellow, and I must say, this game is gold, I play it even now, and still appreciate how many things is to do here.
About the console
It turned out to be really pleasant to use, the buttons are big enough for me, the battery maybe isn't as good as in DS Lite, but It still good to get with console through the day (play some during the morning bus ride, hour or two after work, and sometime before going to bet).
Lack of 3D didn't bother me at all, and the shape of the console makes it easy to hold. So yeah, I brought 2DS because it was cheaper, but turn out it was a really good decision, and I'm genuinely happy with that console. Even in the New2DS era.
